The Reluctant Protestant

I would write about something besides theology but if there were an equally interesting perspective from which to approach reality.

Who is the reluctant protestant?

My name is Tyler Pearson.  I am an M.Div. student at Emmanuel School of religion in Johnson City, Tennessee.  I am married to a wonderful woman who puts up with a husband trapped in an infinite degression toward nerd-dom.  My daughter is beautiful and is a complete handful.  When I’m not thinking about theology I’m thinking about the GRE so I can get into a decent doctoral program and think about theology for several more years.  When I’m not doing that I’m at Lake Watauga with my wife and daughter.  If we can get my wife there several times a week she starts to think that she likes East Tennessee (which is of course a good in and of itself, but it also makes my life dramatically easier).

  1. Are you studying to become a pastor or theologian? Both?

  2. Right now I’m planning on teaching, but getting into a doctoral program and then getting a job in the academy is easier said then done so I’m always open to other doors being open.
